Khufiya is an action biography crime mystery thriller film directed by vishal bhardwaj.

Wamiqa gabbi, for me, has given a performance par excellence. Her character, charu dances by the 70s bollywood songs, laments at a ghazal, and she excels at both the situations. In one scene, where charu is in doggy position, having forceful sex with ravi, and she just moans in repressed anger, disgust, her expression breaking my heart, her condition making me feel the pain. Ali fazal, as ravi convinces us with his twisted sense of patriotism. When he gets trapped, in USA, he laughs and cries at the same time, confused himself about what is good for him at this moment. Tabu, as always is a fine performer with a superlative performance. Her chemistry with azmeri haque badhon is palpable. Azmeri, with her bangladeshi hindi accent, is good. Ashish vidyarthi is good too. But, a scene stealing navnindra behl is outstanding. Her dialogues in the direst moments of tension, makes you chuckle.

Krishna mehra has a history, which first wrecks her personal life, and then influences her professional life too. One which seemed a job, turns into a personal revenge, tabu herself doesn't recognise it, doesn't let us feel it. Thats her win, thats her performance's greatness. The character writing of charu is also pretty good. She is a mother, who wants her son back, but also can see the difference between the right and wrong way of reaching her goal, at least in the beginning.

The screenplay is fine with little ripples in it. There are two phases of spying on ravi, both stretched beyond a point, both making the impact a bit lesser. The film establishes the fact, that spying as shown in mainstream cinema, is not a lucrative, eye-catchy job. It can devastate your personal life. The music of the film is exquisitely crafted. Mat aana by rekha bhardwaj and na hosh chale by arijit singh and vishal bhardwaj himself are outstanding songs. The songs on sant kabir and sant rahim's dohas are great too. The background music is eerie and exhilirating. The whistle in the bgm arouses a sense of scratchy feel. The dialogues are great.
