You might want to start with the second season. The new addition of Lori as a character adds a certain spark that the first season was missing.

Although, the first season is a little more focused on what little story and character there is. In the first season, we see Tommy coping with being a werewolf, trying to hide his werewolf identity, the town reacting to possible werewolf sightings, Merton looking for a cure and often getting guidance from reading about noted werewolf expert Fluglhoff. The writers don't mine much from this material, but it's still pretty interesting to play around with what little they give us.

The second season has more of a focus on Lori and her dynamic with the group. Fortunately she isn't like "Cousin Oliver" from "The Brady Bunch", the show doesn't force her on us, they handle her integration into the show very well. However, near the end of the second season, they kind of run out of ideas for her, and her character winds up being an after-thought in the third season.

"Missed opportunity" comes to mind when watching this show. They'll occasionally present a good idea or character, then they'll start shrugging.

While minor characters, Merton's little sis, Becky, and Tommy's big bro, Dean, add a little more to it, making it slightly more palatable. Merton can be such a dork, nice contrast to normal teenage Becky who may walk into his room while he's making out with no one. The guy who plays Dean is so incredibly charming. The role is pretty sad as throughout the entire series he's obese and always sitting in a chair watching tv. Looks like he could be around thirty. But the guy who plays Dean helps the viewer ignore any of that as he has such a presence and big brotherly vibes.

If you've got nothing better to do, cherry picking an episode here and there (possibly from second season) can be a little fun. Jock-turned-werewolf aided by enthusiastic and creative goth as they take on different types of horror, whether it be a creature or normal human with odd powers. Go on the imdb episode list and pick whichever episode sounds good to you. Third season I'd be more weary of. They are low on ideas and Merton seems more annoying than usual.
