I feel like the thing that made the Vow, Going Clear and similar great cult documentaries compelling is the way they showed how normal people were drawn into organizations under the false pretenses of simple self improvement and were slowly indoctrinated until they allowed horrible things to happen. Love Has One, on the other hand, is essentially the story of a bunch of out of control hallucinogen users/mentally ill people spewing spiritual words about a woman who who was also mentally ill and addicted to hallucinogens (and alcohol). Given a bus, a bag of weed, and a couple of hours anyone could roll into Humboldt county or Portland and come out with a dozen "Mother Gods" with no trouble. I think the documentary crew did the best they could but the story wasn't there.
