Second generation didn't create new legends.

Perhaps the era of the classic western already had enough stars so new Mitchums, McCreas and Ladds didn't make lightning strike. It's a plot heavy B western where dishonor falls upon the younger brother of an army officer only because of something the older brother did. Gary Conway, not related to anyone famous, is the disgraced West Point cadet traveling with Chill Wills, Jody McCrea, James Mitchum and Alana Ladd, and while trying to find his brother is pursued by assorted groups including Ladd's father, Robert Lowery and a tribe of Apaches known for their ability to hide until its too late.

There's also Barbara Mansell as a strong willed, feisty beauty who helps them, so with two commanding female characters, this does have some unique developments. Benefiting by color photography and wide screen, this is very cinematic and intense, particularly in the second half. Mansell and Wills stand out among the cast, aided by a strong well developed plot, intelligent dialog and a memorable musical score. But it's also a case of too much for an 80 minute movie, with the group surrounded by all three groups at the end. This has more of a spiritual tone than normal, so mixing that with a lot of violence creates an interesting combination.
