Spoon (Tupac Shakur), Stretch (Tim Roth), and Cookie (Thandiwe Newton) are heroin addicts in Detroit. They are a band called Eight Mile Road. Cookie overdoses and the boys have to carry her to the hospital. The boys struggle to get clean while dealing with the complicated bureaucracy and life on the bottom rung.
