Do you like movies with very little dialogue? Then this one's for you. But don't worry. It makes up for the lack of dialogue with hardly any action. And Joaquin Phoenix has never mumbled better! Depressing story. Depressing characters. Excessive flashbacks. We get it. The guy had a tough childhood. But what's interesting about him or the story? Nothing. It keeps beating the viewer over the head with the same themes. There's no part of this movie I'd watch again. The only thing it has going for it is the run time. This kind of self-indulgent crap usually goes on for much longer. I'm still not getting that 90 minutes of my life back but it could've been worse.
