This incredible drama, by a stellar director, Alf Sjöberg, is definitely a highlight in the ever impressive Swedish filmography, and that of the director - and perhaps, arguably, the best adaptation of the classic August Strindberg story?
The actors all do an incredible job, as one would expect from such a stellar cast, and it is indeed very career defining, very nuanced, and adapts the essence of the novel splendidly. All of this accompined by a stellar script for the ages, very nicely written and paced.
The cinematography, cutting and editing is incredible, and very much in line with his style, very beautifully put together for sure.
