This show is a prequel to the movies, it seems. And while I don't remember anything about them (aside from the premise), the idea doesn't really get in the way of its storytelling. And I have to admit, I quite liked the writing., There's a good setup and delivery to most comedic moments, and some are very creative. And while not every joke lands for me, and sometimes the twist to an almost-cliché situation is SO contrary to one's expectations that it takes me out a bit.. there's still underlying level of "stupidity" that makes it quite enjoyable and likeable, working in a very unexpected way (like most of this guy's shows). The cast is also very good in every role, and each episode works in a stand-alone way, while still feeling connected to something more. It's very refreshing to have a "throw-away" series with such overall quality.
