What struck me about "Coach" when I first saw it was Craig T. Nelson. My first reaction when I saw him was, "HE'S THE DAD IN POLTERGEIST!" The scariest movie I had seen up to that point. The second person I noticed was Jerry Van Dyke. Before I even knew what his name was I was staring at him thinking, "Man, he looks a lot like Dick Van Dyke." Of course, later I found out his name and it wasn't hard to put two and two together.
Craig T. Nelson played the coach in "Coach." He was Coach Hayden Fox, the football coach of a college program. Jerry Van Dyke was his assistant, Coach Luther Van Dam. Jerry always had me laughing. He was not the brightest bulb in the bunch and he played that role well. Another slow-witted guy was Dauber (Bill Fagerbakke). He wasn't as funny as Coach Luther, but he had his moments.
