Marci has long had a crush on Julika, who lives in the same house as him, but before their love could blossom, he is drafted into the army. Juli is sent to work in a factory, where she falls in with the wrong crowd, often partying until dawn consuming "piccolo lights". After a year, Marci returns home and gets deeply disappointed in her and breaks up with her. But Juli loves him too and hopes that he will give her the security she needs to return to her old self.
