"A Feud in the Kentucky Hills" is a short film by D. W. Griffith about his home state of Kentucky, albeit a dark and stereotypical one! It sure doesn't do a lot to encourage folks to visit or move to the state!
When the story begins, a nasty crack-shot decides he's going to marry girl (Mary Pickford) even though she doesn't want him. Soon after, his younger and nicer brother comes back to the hills for a visit and unlike the other brother, this one likes the girl and vice-versa. Naturally, this soon brings the brothers into conflict with each other. But before they can kill each other, an old feud re-erupts and the pair must fight side by side. What's to come of all this?
For 1912, this is a good film, though it probably won't sit so well with modern audiences. Still, it's not dull and the acting is pretty good for a Griffith short.
