Charles Ogle Ogles A Bit Of Miriam Nesbitt
boblipton1 January 2019
Lordly Charles Ogle is wandering through his domains one day when he spots beautiful peasant girl Miriam Nesbitt. He offers her riches, but she loves poor peasant Augustus Phillips, who is far away at the moment. However, when Miriam's sister, Viola Dana, falls ill, Ogle brings in a doctor if she will come to his castle. She agrees. When Mr. Phillips returns, he finds her home deserted.

The Edison Company knew that the market for its movies were the people who couldn't afford life stage performances. Although they turned out a goodly number of costume dramas featuring the upper crust, they also turned out a goodly number which, like this one, sympathized with their audience and raged against the ability of the rich to get what they wanted, even if their desires fell upon the lower classes.

Like most Edison movies of this era, the acting is slow and deliberate, obviating the need for many titles.
