PamelaShort21 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
A baby left in a basket, among the lilies of a lake is found by an old gardener, ( William J. Gross ) he raises her, calling her " Bebée." Now a fourteen year old girl, Bebée ( Vivian Martin ) continues his work in the gardens after his death. Lionel ( John Bowers ) an artist, is seeking a model for his painting "Marguerite," finds in Bebée the innocent qualities lacking in his other models. She poses for him, then he courts the girl, provoking the jealousy of Jean, a woodsman. But, Bebée's innocence conquers Lionel's resolve to seduce her and he leaves after awakening in her a tormenting love. Later, Bebée reads about his illness and poverty, she travels two hundred miles on foot to be with him. When the forlorn girl finally arrives, she sees Lionel cavorting with women in revealing gowns. The horrified girl flees and jumps into a river, but Jean ( Chester Barnett ) who followed, rescues her and brings her back home. One day the distraught girl puts two rosebuds in her wooden shoes with a note saying, "Send them to him," and drowns herself among the lilies.

This tragic drama was Vivian Martin's sixth film, and now sadly remains unknown on the list of lost silent films.
