Sex & Nudity

  • A painting on a wall is shown of a topless woman, although it's far enough away to not be very noticeable and it's hard to see any details. There may be a few other nude depictions on the same wall, but they are much less obvious.
  • A boy is briefly shown from a side view without any bottom covering, which may very discreetly show some of his genitals. This instant isn't the focus of the scene.
  • Nude female statues are visible in several scenes.
  • There are several scenes of men making unwanted romantic/sexual advances towards women. This includes carrying them away during the riot scenes.
  • A brief scene of a room of people acting somewhat promiscuously, although no sex or nudity is shown.
  • A few very brief moments of moderate cleavage.

Violence & Gore

  • A man is shown presumably about commit suicide with a small sword, although he doesn't go through with it.
  • A woman is shown being whipped in order to confess or give information. The whipping itself is brief and not very violent or gory, but the buildup may be somewhat intense. Later on the same scene is shown, which is mainly of her fainting and being taken away. In another few scenes blood that has soaked into the back of her shirt as well as whip marks are also shown.
  • A mother's baby is thrown against the wall, and presumably killed. All that is shown is a split second of this, as well as the mother's devastation.
  • During the riots Fenella (Anna Pavlova)'s life is threatened if the rioters don't stop. They still go ahead and riot, but she still isn't killed, although attempts are made to do so.
  • The riot scenes are fairly violent and somewhat gory, which lasts around 20 minutes. Men, women, and possible children participate.
  • During the riot scenes, soldiers are fighting against this mob with swords, while the mob uses a variety of weapons such as large sticks. Additionally, Some looting/vandalism occurs. Only one brief scene of the use of a gun, which shoots and kills a man, although it's not very graphic or explicit.
  • Gore which happens during the riot scenes includes the showing of several bodies, a small amount of blood on the faces of a few men, and a few scenes of heads on spikes.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some sort of liquor is shown, with people drinking it. Symptoms of drunkenness is shown.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A woman is shown being kidnapped and thrown into a medieval looking prison cell.
  • A city is shown on fire from far away, as well as some scenes close up of people putting things in the fire.
  • There is an extended rioting scene lasting around 20 minutes which might be somewhat intense, although it is much more violent than intense.

  • Two of the main characters die as a result of a murder/suicide. The scene is shown clearly, although it's not gory.
