Mon Ciné magazine writes on May 29, 1924, that the bear in this film also shot scene for L'agonie des aigles (1922) but they were deleted from the final film.
This was the first time an author appeared in a movie of his/her own work. Jean Richepin played the role of Count de la Roque from his story Miarka, The Child of the Bear.
The title "Miarka The Child of the Bear" is listed as the USA title, and "Gypsy Passion" as the international English-language one, yet the latter is seen as the given title in American theatre reviews and ads.
