War is declared. Julius the cat is driving around announcing the news. He leads a group to volunteer at the Recruiting Station. The group gets to the front which is commanded by general Alice. The opposition is a bunch of mice led by a bear (I think).

I can do without all the whistling. This Walt Disney short seems obsessed with that sound effect. It gets a bit tiresome and repetitive. The different shots can be represented by different sounds. Trench warfare seems like a dark subject matter. The story is not that imaginative or that compelling. Along with all that whistling, I am not liking this one.

Alice's Little Parade (1926)

** 1/2 (out of 4)

A war breaks out so it's up to Julius to ride around and let everyone know. Soon enough everyone is lining up for battle.....against some mice. ALICE'S LITTLE PARADE features a rather interesting title because Alice really has nothing to do here. In fact, Margie Gay who plays Alice is limited to one very quick scene, which is almost pointless except I guess you had to have her in here somewhere if you were going to stick her name in the title. The film itself is a decent one for the series as there's quite a bit of action with the highlight coming towards the end when Julius figures out a way to win the war. Fans of the series will certainly want to check this one out.
