Tarzan Goofy Happy Go Lucky
CihanVercan7 April 2022
One of the least distributed Clarence Nash & Pinto Colvig cartoons. Many years ago I was in a discussion where I later came to my senses that I was wrong: I used to think Goofy had never done Tarzan and besides I had never recalled a cage holding businessman Donald Duck.

This Donald Duck short has little to no conversation. Although in the jungle when the Adventurist Donald, frankly, finds a trophy to bring back home alive; he first attempts to speak up to the Tarzan Goofy... But to no use. Goofy, more than any other Goofy episode ever, is totally in his own world/own view.

With lots of Coyote & Road Runner type of cat rat race, Goofy manages to trap Coyote Donald Duck in with a cave lion.

If you omit goofs like Tarzan operating a motorboat quite well, and exaggeration on law of physics limits in cartoons; then it is an unique/creative/fun watch.

Goofy, the Wild Man
Hitchcoc11 February 2019
Goofy is hilarious in this cartoon. He is a wild man being hunted by Frank Duck (played by Donald). As is usually the case, Donald doesn't have a chance. He tries everything to catch the wild man, but, of course, Donald is hopelessly overmatched. Goofy is like Tarzan. He is one with the vines and the vines are a part of the humor. This is really quite good. One thing, however. Donald has to escape a lion. He comes to water's edge and can't escape. He's a duck for heaven's sake. Can't he swim?

Kind of an anti-climatic cartoon.
OllieSuave-00718 July 2017
Goofy is the wild man of the jungle is this cartoon short and Donald Duck is a hunter in search of a man for a movie of some sort. Donald chases Goofy around in hopes of trapping him, resulting in plenty of running around and hits & misses. Not too much to laugh at here, but Goofy playing a Tarzan-like character with Donald wanting to catch him is pretty unorthodox for the two characters.

The funniest part is where Goofy and Donald inadvertently switches clothing while they were both being chase by a lion. Goofy at the end escapes the lion, but it still chases Donald around. Kind of an anti-climatic story.

Grade C+

Film historians always have wondered why . . .
pixrox115 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
. . . the WIZARD OF OZ movie studio did not sue the pants away from Dizzy for ripping off their TARZAN franchise of flicks with FRANK DUCK BRINGS 'EM BACK ALIVE. After all, whenever the shoe is on the other hoof, Dizzy's legion of rabidly litigious lawyers are always eager to go to court at the drop of rat. But despite stealing, appropriating and otherwise filching the famed Ape Man's yell, vine-based mode of transportation and very wardrobe here, I could find no record of any legal action on the part of the copyright holder against Dizzy for their brazen ripoff. How sad that Tarzan's should-be protectors proved to be so pusillanimous.

Goofy the man of the jungle vs. Donald the white hunter
TheLittleSongbird23 February 2013
Anything with Goofy and Donald is always worth watching and most of the time great or very close near it. To see them together is a dream, and they are together for one of their best collaborations in Frank Duck Brings 'em Back Alive. The concept is not exactly innovative, nor did it need to be, but what is done with it is very exciting in Frank Duck Brings 'em Back Alive. This is helped by the fast pacing and imaginative gags. Goofy eating the contract, Goofy being trapped in a cage with no bottom and Donald carrying it oblivious to Goofy being inside are enormously fun gags, but the best one for me was the gag in the cave where Donald and Goofy end up with their clothes swapped in some way or another and a lion chases them out. The animation is terrific, colourful and vibrant with lots of detailed backgrounds- especially the dark jungle- and both Goofy and Donald are very well drawn. The music has always brought heart, energy and soul to the Disney shorts, beautifully orchestrated and the ability to enhance the respective short's humour, and Frank Duck Brings 'em Back Alive is no exception. Donald is true to character and his trademark irritable and easily frustrated personality is very well shown here. Goofy works very well with him and has some nice moments where he makes small mistakes, though some may find that he is smarter than Donald here, considering that his strength is where he doesn't know what his mistakes are and how to get out of them while the audience do, that might feel a little strange to some. Pinto Colvig and Clarence Nash provide characterful vocal work. Overall, an enormously enjoyable short that makes a familiar concept seem fresh. 10/10 Bethany Cox
