Most of the show is dedicated to Gene Autry, with the sets and show dancers dressed for the occasion. Gene and his backup singers come out on horses, and sings, with audience support, "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer".
Ed Sullivan presents Charles Boyer in "Don Juan in Hell"; Sam Levenson, Julius La Rosa, Roberta Peters, the Jack Cole dancers from "Kismet", and members of the Princeton Triangle Club.
For MGM's 30th Anniversary, Ed Sullivan broadcasts from Television City in Hollywood featuring some of MGM's biggest stars. The program includes clips of their most popular films, as well as recreated scenes and songs from their films.
