Sex & Nudity

  • None. No sex or nudity.
  • A rape and the resultant pregnancy is central to the plot.
  • While the rapist is seen kissing the victim and shoving her around, the actual rape is not shown.
  • -- Not Rated, but would probably be:
  • PG-13-Thematic Elements involving Rape, and Some Violent Content

Violence & Gore

  • Gore: None
  • The rape scene involves force; a murder and a shooting occur. None of these scenes are filmed in such a way as to emphasize goriness.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • No drugs.
  • Alcohol is consumed by several characters, one of whom becomes drunk. There are a few scenes with incidental tobacco smoking. The only drugs in the film are prescribed medications.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • No scene is "intense," but younger viewers will probably find all three violent scenes (one rape, one murder and one shooting) disturbing, rather than frightening. Some modern younger viewers might easily be disturbed by the coarse, casual disparagement of the deaf-mute character as "the Dummy."
  • Not a good choice for young children.
