Long Live Talkies!!
travisimo3 December 2003
I've never been a huge fan of cartoon characters that don't talk. I've never really cared for Tom & Jerry or The Road Runner/Coyote cartoons (which may be blasphemous for an animation fan to say!) So I'm not really a huge fan of Pluto either. This cartoon is cute, and there are some great mannerisms in Pluto and the small dog, but it's still not my favorite. I think my favorite part of the cartoon would have to be Mickey's last line. It made me smile!

My IMDB Rating: 6/10

By the way, even though Pluto isn't my favorite character to watch in cartoons, he's probably the best character in the Disney theme parks. Take a picture with him. It's fun!!

Not one of Disney's best, but I have a soft spot for this short

This is an average short, nothing special, but Tucson AZ is often referred to as The Old Pueblo, so I have a soft spot, likely one in my head, for this short. Not terribly novel or creative, with some amusing moments. Excellent cactus work though. Worth watching.

This cartoon attempts to chronicle the cultural snafu . . .

Warning: Spoilers
. . . which gave rise to the term "Pueblo Giver." At the time of its release, an infamous incident had recently occurred when a Spanish tourist named C-o-r-t-e-z was given several pots by Geronimo and several other Pueblos, who expected these gifts to be returned none-the-worse-for-wear almost immediately. During PUEBLO PLUTO, this debacle is reenacted when Mick the Mouse buys his mutt a buffalo bone, only to learn that the proprietor's puppy considers this treat to be his personal plaything, taking it back before Pluto even has a chance to sample it. Dizzy is highlighting a recurring theme in American history, which saw hundreds of fair and balanced "peace treaties" drawn up by the victors in good faith immediately violated by retrograde runner-ups with fingers perennially crossed under the table. When told that they could not have their cake and eat it too, these unsophisticated land hogs always responded "Why not?"

Okay, but not one of Pluto's best
Coolguy-727 August 2000
After Mickey gives Pluto a buffalo bone, Pluto nibbles on it for awhile and then a small puppy comes. I thought this was a pretty good short, but it would not be considered one of my favorites. The funniest part was where Pluto got trapped in the "cactus pen" after trying to get his bone back from the puppy.

Not that much to it, but nice enough all the same

Disney has been and always will be close to my heart. Pueblo Pluto is one of those Disney shorts that is nice, but there is not much that is exceptional about it. It is lacking in laughs, essentially it's an example of a short that is more cute than it is funny, and the story, while not exactly dull, is very routine and rather thinly structured. Mickey is disappointingly bland, after seeing him being characterised so splendidly in many of the shorts from the 30s it is a shame to see him have so little to do. Here only his closing line raises a smile. Pueblo Pluto is beautifully animated though, the backgrounds are really colourful and have a lot of fluidity. The music is equally wonderful, brimming with vibrant energy. Pluto and the little dog are very likable characters and their interplay is very cute and has some amusement at least.

Overall, a nice short but not all that much to it at the end of the day. 6/10 Bethany Cox

It's Very Cute, But It Lacks Humor
ccthemovieman-123 June 2007
There really isn't anything funny in here, but it's such a cute cartoon it's hard to pan it. In a nutshell, Mickey and Pluto are sightseeing in the Southwest. They stop at a souvenir place and while Mickey goes inside, Pluto starts chomping on a delicious "buffalo bone." Soon, a tiny little pup appears from under the floorboards and competition erupts for the bone

In the end, the little guy has to use his brains to get Pluto out of jam in which he's trapped by a ring of cactus plants.

As mentioned, there isn't much to this, just a lot of slurping and chomping by the two dogs. Wait - there was one funny scene early when Pluto started eating the bone as if it were corn-on-the-cob. Well, I guess you had to see it.

Recommend for little kids only.

Too adorable.
OllieSuave-00730 November 2017
This one is a little much on the adorable side. Mickey feeds Pluto a buffalo bone, but after snacking on it for a few seconds, a small dog steals it away from Pluto. The small dog is cute and all, but his greedy instincts is a bit of a turn off.

After a few chases with Pluto, the dog retreats into a cactus field with the bone. Pluto lands on the field from a cliff, retrieves the bone, but then has trouble getting out of the thorny trees. But, it's the small dog to the rescue to get Pluto out of his predicament. So, the one responsible for getting Pluto into the mess in the first place is the same one getting him out.

Aside from the cuteness factor, I didn't find this cartoon very funny or entertaining.
