Davy, a Tennessee volunteer, was called upon to crush a Creek uprising. He sympathizes with the Indians, but has to rescue a young settler, Ory Palmer. He refuses to support an Indian Affairs bill which President Jackson is proposing.
During Professor Henry Crawford's testing, the experiment goes awry, resulting in a sort of flying rubber, called Flubber. The girlfriend, Ellen Whitley, does not share Henry's enthusiasm for his new substance.
Davy Crockett finds his uncle who vanished over 20 years previous after a deadly Indiana raid attacked, along the way his buddy George is attacked by a Grizzly Bear.
Davy and George are sent to find a Creek meeting place but happen upon an Indian boy undertaking a coming-of-age ritual. Davy unwittingly shames him with his tribe. In order to get the tribe to take the boy back, Davy feigns blindness.
Missing his family, Davy tries to take a letter, but on the way happens upon a cabin where the family has all been slaughtered, except for a boy, Aaron, who can no longer speak. Davy takes Aaron with him and tries to calm his fears.
During the Creek uprising, the soldiers are intimidated by a medicine man. Callahan attempts to kill the medicine man, but Davy saves him. This incident helps bring peace, and the Tennessee volunteers can head home to their families.
