Spoilers for "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" Season 3 Episode 12 "Juggernaut" follow.
The third and final season of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" moves on, this time bringing us back to the original status quo of the season. In the epic previous episode, Omega sacrificed herself to prevent the utter destruction of their paradise refuge of Pabu, and the Empire takes her right back to Mount Tantiss. Desperate to find Omega and stop the Empire's experiments once and for all, the Bad Batch looks for any lead they can in order to find the location of the secret facility.
That brings them back to Admiral Rampart, who was arrested in earlier seasons as a scapegoat for the genocidal destruction of Kamino. He was sent to an Imperial labor camp, which offers a pretty neat, direct tie to "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

There are two gimmicks at work in the two "Deadpool" movies, released in 2016 and 2018 respectively. The first is that Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) seems to recognize that he's in a superhero movie, and makes numerous metatextual gags about the shortcomings of the genre. In "Deadpool 2," the character comments that, if his plan goes well, the movie itself won't require a third act. He also goes back in time to the events of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and kills an alternate-timeline version of himself, fulfilling the bloodlust of fans who hated that version of the character.
The other gimmick is Reynolds himself, a wry, fast-talking comedic actor who delivers flip dialogue and irreverent humor better than anyone. Reynolds also seemed to oversee the films' ad campaigns, and he would appear in character, talking about how he, Deadpool, was now a movie star. All this while his face was completely covered by a superhero mask.

In his bold 1990 interpretation of Luigi Pirandello’s “Henry IV,” the late and legendary Irish stage, screen and music star Richard Harris utters the immortal lines, “Woe to him who doesn’t know how to wear his mask.”
Even before his breathtaking big-screen triumph 60 years ago as the rugby ruffian Frank Machin in Lindsay Anderson’s film directing debut, “This Sporting Life,” Harris proved adept at juggling personal and professional personas. He swaggered with macho gusto and great thesping chops through the London stage scene and quickly found key roles in action epics such as “Guns of Navarone” and “Mutiny on the Bounty.”
Then his stunning 1963 breakthrough in “Life” made the showbiz side of the equation easy.

Though it sets out on a ghost hunt, Adrian Sibley’s fitfully fascinating documentary works better as an exploration of its subject’s public and private personas, charting Richard Harris’ rise from local sports star to screen legend via an unexpected heyday as a chart-topping pop star in 1968.
Rather than start with a séance, however, The Ghost of Richard Harris, screening in the Classics section of the Venice Film Festival, opens with the more prosaic sight of the actor’s three sons — Damien, Jared and Jamie — going through their late mother’s lock-up, where they find journals full of poetry, King Arthur’s crown (a prop from 1967’s Camelot) and trinkets from the Harry Potter franchise, in which their father played Dumbledore until his death in 2002, aged 72.
This set-up proves to be somewhat self-defeating, as the three middle-aged men, while reminiscing, then admit that they were packed away to boarding...

This lesser-known suspense thriller is an excellent adaptation of a novel by Graham Greene, and a fine showcase for actor Anthony Hopkins and the upcoming Kristin Scott Thomas, with an able assist from Derek Jacobi. A Paris lawyer is sentenced to die as a random hostage of the German occupiers, but swaps with another prisoner with a desperate, questionable death-cell contract. Three years later, he must pretend not to be himself when he returns to the house he traded for his life, to face a woman who has sworn to kill the man who allowed her brother to die. Fans of Hannibal Lecter will be impressed by Hopkins’ deep, absorbing performance — the show’s moral tension and strange twists of fate are quite moving.

The music branch of the Academy often leans into pop stars in this category — perhaps wanting to see them perform the song on the Oscar stage — as well as hit songs from Disney animated musicals. And the shortlist of Best Original Song contenders unveiled today is very much part of that tradition.
Leading the shortlist of 15 songs are these leading contenders, which scored both Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award nominations: Elton John’s original song “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” from Dexter Fletcher’s bio-musical “Rocketman,” Beyoncé’s single “Spirit” from the “live-action” “The Lion King,” and the follow-up to Idina Menzel’s Oscar-winning “Let It Go” juggernaut, her “Frozen 2″ ballad “Into the Unknown,” also written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. That win is in the bag.

The X-Men are on their way into the McU…eventually. Though the studio must be keen to get to grips with the horde of new characters they’ve just inherited from Fox, Marvel will wait a few years before rebooting mutantkind in order to work out the best way to handle things following the previous version of the franchise. One smart way of doing it would be to prioritize characters who were underused in Fox’s films, though.
Characters like Juggernaut, perhaps? That’s what we’re hearing, anyway. We Got This Covered has been informed by our sources – the same ones who told us Bill Murray would return for Ghostbusters 3 and that a Green Lantern show was coming to HBO Max – that Cain Marko is likely to be involved in Marvel’s X-Men reboot. What’s more, we’ve been told that the McU iteration will be much closer to the comics.

Before David Leitch was hired to replace Tim Miller as the director of Deadpool 2, Miller, who directed the first one, was planning his version of the sequel. Miller ultimately ended up parting ways with Fox on the film due to creative differences.
We now have more of an idea of what Miller was planning, and those plans included bringing Fantastic Four’s The Thing into the story! While appearing on the Fourth Wall podcast, Miller revealed a few details about his scrapped Deadpool sequel.
In regards to The Thing, he would have shown up in the epic climactic final battle with The Juggernaut. That would have certainly been a crazy cool plot twist! I think fans would have flipped over it, but it just wasn’t meant to be.
Concept artist Alexander Lozano previously shared some concept art that he whipped up for Miller that included all the members of the Fantastic Four.

“Deadpool” director Tim Miller is heading back to the big screen as the filmmaker behind Paramount’s upcoming fall tentpole “Terminator: Dark Fate,” a gig that was made possible only after he dropped out of helming “Deadpool 2.” Miller left the sequel in October 2016 over “mutual creative differences” between him and franchise star Ryan Reynolds. In a new interview with The Playlist on “The Fourth Wall” podcast, Miller reveals his original plans for “Deadpool 2” that got scrapped once he exited the sequel.
One of Miller’s biggest plans for “Deadpool 2” was beefing up the role of Vanessa, played by Morena Baccarin. The character dies at the start of the “Deadpool 2” theatrical cut and only appears briefly afterwards, but that’s not what Miller wanted for her storyline. In my opinion, learning movie trivia from the “what might have been” file can often be of the most intriguing variety. This type of stuff is especially prevalent in the superhero genre, as so many attempts at making films with these characters get scrapped or reworked before the finished product makes it to screen.
As it turns out, Deadpool 2 is not exempt from this category. In fact, the sequel starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth could’ve turned out much differently had the first flick’s director, Tim Miller, not left the project. And most fortunate for people like you and me, he’s coughed up some interesting factoids.
Perhaps the biggest bombshell dropped during Miller’s recent interview with The Playlist’s Fourth Wall podcast was that – get this – the Thing of Fantastic Four fame was originally supposed to fight Juggernaut. Not only that, but...

One element about Deadpool‘s already established movies that is certainly a plus when it comes to his hopeful inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that they’ve pretty much been their own thing. Think about it: there’s been no significant overlap with Fox’s X-Men flicks, and they’ve offered different interpretations of Colossus and Juggernaut. That said, Kevin Feige and company could easily import Ryan Reynolds without having to worry about recasting their own D. Piddy. The X-Men as a group, however, will no doubt be rebooted.
Whenever everything finally comes together though, we should be treated to even more dream mashups on the big screen. Believe me, I’m right there with those of you already clamoring for an Avengers vs. X-Men movie, or to see someone like Wolverine fighting alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
In the opinion of Rob Liefeld, whom you may know...

Marvel presses the randomize button to give us some fresh hero vs. villain matches.
Marvel is at a spot right now where they’re just kind of rehashing old event stories with a new coat of paint. Considering how much money they made altering the story of Infinity Gauntlet into two feature films, I don’t know if I can blame them. In the past few years, they did new takes on Secret Wars, Civil War, and even Amalgam. Next up is dusting off Acts of Vengeance and rebranding it as Acts of Evil.
Acts of Vengeance was an event from the early '90s with a simple and incredibly fun concept: a bunch of villains got together and decided to trade targets in order to hit the heroes off-guard. Spider-Man fights Graviton, Punisher fights Dr. Doom, Thor fights Juggernaut, etc. It was mainly remembered for Spider-Man...

Avengers: Endgame is fast approaching, but wow, that Avengers: Infinity War left audiences on quite the cliffhanger. What with half the universe’s living organisms turned to dust and all. Even some of our favorite heroes couldn’t withstand the power of those darn Infinity Stones. Those few left are scattered, scared and scarred. How will the remaining defenders of Earth defeat Thanos and his mangled torso in Avengers: Endgame? Well, according to the internet, a certain insect-like man could use his power to defeat the Mad Titan with one, swift grow.
How, you ask? Simple: tiny Ant-Man enters Thanos’ big purple butthole, expands and destroys the CGI Josh Brolin from the inside-out. This is what has become known colloquially as “The Thanus Theory,” and it’s been all over the social media, making its rounds through memes and drawings.
People want to visualize this. People want this to happen.

Ok, Venom fans, break out your Green Jelly tapes, because it's time to learn all about Carnage, Spider-Man's evil double's evil double.
All right, so, a few months ago, when Deadpool 2 came out, we did an article called Deadpool 2: Who is Juggernaut? People were pretty annoyed because Juggernaut’s role in that movie as a major antagonist wasn’t advertised and they cried spoiler. And that’s a fair call. Apologies.
That said, if you think it’s a spoiler that Carnage is in any way alluded to in Venom, I don’t know what to tell you. It’s Carnage. Of Course he’s going to be at least referenced in a Venom movie. The movie just used Carlton Drake and Riot. Venom doesn’t exactly have a Batman-level rogues gallery to play with and only one of his bad guys is important...

Deadpool 2 was packed with fan-pleasing easter eggs and cameos, with the most obvious being the first appearance of X-Men villain Juggernaut since 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand. It turns out that the Merc with a Mouth’s sequel could have also found room for the Fantastic Four as well though, if original director Tim Miller had stuck with the project and not been replaced by David Leitch.
Though we never got to see a Fantastic Four/Deadpool crossover, even on the extended Super Duper Cut home video release, these awesome pieces of concept art seen down below reveal how the characters might’ve appeared. Marvel artist Alexander Lozano shared the work on Instagram, along with some information about how Miller envisioned the heroes.

Domino was one of two high-profile additions to the Deadpool 2 ensemble (the other being Nathan Summers/Cable), and you simply can’t fault Zazie Beetz’s performance as the walking, talking good-luck charm.
Originally designed as an X-Force member, Beetz’s character is among the few shortlisted for Drew Goddard’s mooted team-up movie (providing it moves forward), though our latest Deadpool 2 tidbit isn’t so much concerned with the future of Domino as it is with the past – specifically, Tim Miller’s initial pitch for the comic book sequel, which seemingly included a totally different take on the muscle-bound Juggernaut.
And that’s not all; as revealed by concept artist Alexander Lozano (h/t ComicBook.com), the Powers That Be originally wanted a hooded costume for Domino replete with heavy-duty firepower that wouldn’t look out of place in the video game series Metal Gear Solid. Sniper Wolf,...

It goes without saying that a lot of comic book fans lost their sh*t upon learning that the classic X-Men villain Juggernaut would be making an appearance in Deadpool 2. After all, Fox had already fooled us once when they included the big galoot in X-men: The Last Stand, in which Juggs was played by Vinnie Jones, to alarmingly eye-rolling effect. Juggernaut was always supposed to feature during Deadpool 2, that much we know, but his appearance was almost tailored to suit Tim Miller’s vision, not David Leitch’s.
Before the latter decided to follow up Atomic Blonde with Deadpool 2, Tim Miller was expected to return at the helm for what was, essentially, the Merc’s second solo adventure. Alas, James Cameron and The Terminator reboot came calling, and even to this day, Miller’s vision for the comic book sequel remains shrouded in mystery.
But thanks to concept artist Alexander Lozano (h/t Heroic Hollywood), we now have a better understanding of how Tim Miller envisioned Juggernaut, the muscle-bound mutant capable of giving Colossus a run for his money. Spoilers: it’s decidedly different from the super-sized wrecking ball glimpsed during Deadpool 2‘s finale (and voiced by Ryan Reynolds), as the rugged armor brings to mind Vinnie Jones...

Much has been made of the Deadpool movies’ success in righting one of the many wrongs of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, with Deadpool 2 even giving us the pleasure of seeing the new Wade Wilson kill the much-maligned version of his character from the 2009 prequel. But the Merc with a Mouth isn’t the only popular mutant whose portrayal was botched in a previous film only for the recent Ryan Reynolds actioners to do it better.
When Juggernaut made his big screen debut in X-Men: The Last Stand, many fans were deeply disappointed by Vinnie Jones’ corny portrayal, with the character’s wince-inducing reference to an old meme remaining one of the most ridiculed moments in the franchise to date. Fortunately, Deadpool 2 managed to restore some credibility to him, and while Cain Marko may have ultimately lost his climactic fight with Colossus, he might just return in a future installment.

Clifton James, the respected character actor who rose to fame as the bumbling southern Sheriff J.W. Pepper in two James Bond films, has passed away at age 96. Our father, Tony Gibbs, who has died aged 90, was a film editor with a long and distinguished career. He was captivated by film from an early age and that interest was nurtured by his parents, Harold, a police officer, and Violet, a cook, who took him to see The Jazz Singer when he was three years old.
After serving in the Royal Marines during the second world war, Tony began his career in the film industry. He started as an assistant in the props department and ended up in the cutting rooms, where he considered himself privileged to have enjoyed successful collaborations with the directors Tony Richardson (for whom he edited A Taste of Honey, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner and Tom Jones), Richard Lester (The Knack, Petulia and Juggernaut) and Nic Roeg (Walkabout and Performance). He definitely played a significant role in the “new wave” of British cinema during the 1960s.

Inspired by the Richard Lester retrospective at the Film Society of Lincoln Center, August 7-13.When the great Omar Sharif died recently, the BBC's coverage of the sad event included clips from Lawrence of Arabia and Dr. Zhivago, of course, and then cut to Richard Lester's Juggernaut just as the voice-over commented on the declining quality of Sharif's later films, causing me to splutter into my cocoa and pen angry letters to Auntie Beeb in my mind, for Juggernaut is a fantastic example of seventies British cinema. It's what I remember seventies Britain being like. The Christmas scene in Ken Russell's Tommy has the same effect on me, but that's because I was a kid in the seventies.Brown and orange color schemes, older men with long hair, and grim political discussions that went over my head but seemed to portend explosive doom: that was the United Kingdom in Ad 1974. In Juggernaut,...

In movies where visual splendor dominated, it says something about the talents of Omar Sharif who made his presence known in pictures like "Lawrence Of Arabia," "Doctor Zhivago," and "Genghis Khan." Sadly, however, the actor has passed away today at the age of 83. Sharif got his start on camera in Egypt, where he quickly became a star, and it wasn't long until Hollywood beckoned and he made the most of it. Sharif's performances in "Lawrence Of Arabia" and "Doctor Zhivago" won him Golden Globe awards for each movie, and an Oscar nomination for 'Arabia.' His handsome features and continental stature allowed Sharif to play a variety of ethnicities and roles, and his skills brought him on the sets of filmmakers like William Wyler ("Funny Girl"), Sidney Lumet ("The Appointment"), Richard Lester ("Juggernaut"), and many more, including, of course, David Lean. A big Hollywood trend at the moment seems to be casting British actors in superhero movies. DC/Warner Brothers have done it most noticeably, with Henry Cavill and Christian Bale taking up the iconic roles of Superman and Batman respectively.
Marvel, however, aren’t short of British talent either. From casting veterans Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart as Magneto and Professor X in the X-Men movies to Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards in the Fantastic Four movies, from Christopher Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed in the upcoming Thor: The Dark World to Paul Bettany voicing Jarvis in the Iron Man movies, and from Rhys Ifans as Lizard in the Spider-Man reboot to Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin in Thor, British actors are really dominating our screens on the superhero and supervillain front – and I’ve barely touched the surface of the Brit crowd in Marvel movies with that list.

Is director Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" a full-on prequel to his 1979 sci-fi horror masterpiece "Alien" or not?
That's the question movie fans have been asking for months and we're going to answer it for you, once and for all. The answer, friends, is yes ... basically.
Scott has been adamant that while "Prometheus" "carries the DNA" of "Alien," it is an original piece of science fiction that delves into everything from biotechnology to artificial intelligence to the origins (and possible destruction) of mankind itself.
Those are lofty goals for a summer movie about the title spaceship star trekking to a hostile planet, but we're gonna walk you through the evidence that this is indeed an "Alien" prequel no matter how look at it. As Michael Fassbender's David says, "Big things have small beginnings."

The ship is far from land, no other vessels are close enough to render assistance,...

Shirley Knight has been a working actress since doing an uncredited role in the classic “Picnic” (1955). She made a substantial mark in the early 1960s by being nominated for a Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her first two major films – “The Dark at the Top of the Stairs” (1960) and “Sweet Bird of Youth...

Between them, they have nearly a century’s worth of TV programming experience, and were part of a generation of Home Box Office management which helped turn company into the premier subscription television service not only in the U.S., but in the world. Their longevity has given them the opportunity to live through their company’s change from a raucously-growing enterprise to a mature business, evolving from what had primarily been a movie service to a programmer just as identified with such acclaimed, high-profile original programming as The Sopranos, Band of Brothers, True Blood, and, most recently, Boardwalk Empire.
