Gordon is always teasing Edward for being old and unreliable and never thanks him for helping him up the hill. One day, Thomas decides to play a trick on Gordon to give Edward the respect he deserves.

James needs to rescue Duck from a flood. James collects Rocky, but doesn't wait for the crane's arm to be secured. Rocky's arm knocks over a signal which leads to all sorts of trouble.
James steals Duck's idea of bringing slip coaches to the railway to help out during the busy summer period. Unfortunately, James doesn't know how these coaches work properly and he makes the passengers cross.
Thomas decides to pull a heavy train of extremely troublesome trucks without a back engine. He later regrets his decision when he runs into trouble on a hill.
A bird watcher pulls the emergency cable inside Annie when he hears a rare bird. Due to being dragged along the rails with her brakes on, Annie's wheel is damaged and Thomas refuses to stop and pick up the bird watcher any more.
When Marion the steam-shovel hits a pipe, she tries to cover it up with dirt. It's not long before there's a landslide and a big rock blocks Gordon's track.
Percy is missing Gator terribly and tries to focus on his work instead of thinking about his absent friend. Percy learns that sometimes thinking about Gator can have it plus sides.
Bill and Ben tease Timothy for being an oil-burning engine, but when the clay pits run out of coal, they realise that being an oil-burning engine has its advantages.
Gator is waiting for his ship to come in and is given the job of bringing Oliver's train to the docks. Gator's lamp keeps turning off and Toad the brakevan is not happy with Gator's attitude towards it.
