Wham A Lama Ding Dang Whoa Daddy!

What a kickaxe short movie! I saw this a couple times on a local San Jose, CA video show called "Breakin' Out" in the 80's hosted by some weird short dude with a mustache and a guy who called himself "Chaka" and kinda dressed like Mr. T. In between videos they would show this movie. Man, what a funny flick! It basically is a day in the life of a nerdy guy who gets some ice cream, puts some moves on some chicks, and goes to a local arcade (an arcade I went to a lot as a kid, now it's gone) and plays the most off the wall video game ya ever seen! This movie is a great slice of 1980's nostalgia and captured the excitement of the early 80's video game craze. Ah, memories. Long live the 80's, baby!

Unlucky in his romantic pursuits, a young man seeks solace in the mind-numbing embrace of a shopping mall video arcade.

One of the few truly great short films. Very entertaining and funny as hell. Amazingly prescient piece released at the onset of the video game boom, treating this new phenomenon much like "Dr. Strangelove" treated Mutual Assured Destruction. A 7th or perhaps 70th sign of the Apocalypse, "Extended Play" hilariously views the adolescent appeal of the twitch game as a clear indicator of our descent into a new Dark Age. I first saw this film when it screened at the midnight marathon of the late great FILMEX International Film Festival in Los Angeles, where it deservedly garnered the Audience Favorite award. To my delight, I again discovered "Extended Play" in the Cult Movie section of a local mom'n'pop video outlet as part of a rare compilation titled, "Mutant Video
