A fine look at the world's best film composer at work
xhari_nairx3 June 2001
This is a must see for anyone interested in Takemitsu, Japanese film, or film music. For that matter, it's great for anyone interested in filmmaking or music in general. Takemitsu was a amazingly unique composer, and this film illustrates repeatedly the impact he brought to the films he worked on, so much so that he could be considered a star of these films. He had the ability to add rich emotion and context to films with a few simple strokes. One word of warning though... the film contains many clips from several films, and almost invariably they are the strongest scenes from those films. So you might want to see films like Ran, Double Suicide, Face of Another and Empire of Passion before you see this film.
