Sex & Nudity

  • In one of the first episodes, Umino tries to act cool, so he flaps his teachers skirt, exposing her panties. This is for a brief moment, but it is later mentioned.
  • In the VIZ dub version, Umino mentions a time of year where couples "get it on." A pretty clear innuendo.
  • Almost all of the female villains wear very revealing clothing that shows cleavage. In the VIZ dub version, there is a female villain who is naked from the waist up, with only star pasties covering her nipples.
  • In the VIZ dub version, Sailor Jupiter makes comments about her breasts, saying that her chest size is bigger than everyone else's .
  • In the VIZ dub version, when Usagi is changing a male baby's diaper, there is a scene where the child's groin area is entirely exposed to the camera.
  • In the VIZ dub version, Sailor Venus makes comments about stripping naked and having her portrait painted by her boyfriend. She makes a kissy face at the camera and reiterates this, saying: "You know, like without any clothes on."
  • Chibi Moon makes several flirtatious and incestuous comments to her father, and wants to be his girlfriend.
  • There is a group of villains who pick their targets based on who they have romantic interest in. One of the villains chooses a young child, and the other villains remark that the child is too young, which that villain who chose the kid dismisses.
  • In the VIZ dub version, there generally are a lot of innuendos and sexual comments that are not kid friendly. The comments come and go in brief incidents, but they can be pretty dirty.
  • In both the VIZ and Japanese version, during one transformation sequence, there are shots of a little girl's buttocks and breasts grow. She is fully nude but her skin is pitch black.
  • -In the Japanese version, there are some moments (mostly in dialogue) of mild adult humor that are solely made to be funny but might confuse younger children; most of these have been cut in the English version.
  • -In the Japanese version, there are two pairs of romantic couples that are the same sex; in the English version, however, these have been changed by either changing the gender of one of the characters or changing the relationship between the two. (ex: Amara and Michelle being cousins)
  • -In both versions, during their transformations into Senshi(Scouts), the protagonists are briefly shown naked but are covered by a glowing aura as they transform. No graphic nudity is shown at any point in the show.
  • -In both versions, Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask are shown to be in a relationship throughout the entire series. They occasionally kiss each other on screen.

Violence & Gore

  • -In both versions, there is mild violence throughout the entire series. Very limited blood is shown.
  • -When monsters die, they sometimes turn into ash. Non-graphic.
  • -Every episode has a fight scene, usually at the second half, in which the Senshi(Scouts) encounter an enemy.
  • -In the English version some parts of these fights are cut/edited, particularly in scenes which the Senshi(Scouts) become harmed by the villian.
  • -Various villians die throughout the series, although hardly any of these deaths are excessively violent.
  • -On occasion, particularly at the end of a season, the Senshi(Scouts) are sometimes shown to be bruised and having cuts on their skin and clothing due to their battles, but there is nothing graphic shown.

Profanity

  • In the VIZ version, there are some pretty crude comments such as "go to hell" or "burn in hell". One of the villains also calls Tuxedo Mask "torpedo ass".
  • -In both the original Japanese and Viz Media dubs, there is mild and infrequent cursing, such as "damn or "'hell".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • There are several villains who are shown drinking alcohol, and one group in particular that is always shown at a type of bar.
  • -There is none in the English version. However, in the Japanese version, the main character is shown to accidently drink alcohol twice and is only made to be humorous.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • -Some of the monsters and fights might frighten younger children.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • In the VERY LAST EPISODE, usagi is nude for most of the episode, with the exception of a few minutes.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Sailor Moon S is easily the darkest season of the Sailor Moon franchine due to the fact that the finale shows Sailor Moon struggling to save Sailor Saturn when all hope seemed to be lost in defeating Pharaoh 90, however, in the end, she ends up surviving and All is well
  • There are some scenes where People's souls (Pure hearts and star seeds respectively) are extracted
  • -Usually at the end of the season, the action can become very tense mainly because in every season the enemy is very close to achieving their goals of destruction. In the Japanese version, some of the Senshi(Scouts) actually die as the story approaches the climax but are revived at the conclusion. In the English version, these moments are instead changed to the Scouts "being captured by the Negaforce"
  • -In some moments (such as a death of a Senshi(Scout) or any other important protagonist), particularly the Japanese version, the events are very sad and might make younger children upset.
