Thi is a softcore film with a plot. Not a good one, but it does feature Penthouse Pet of the Month Tammy Parks totally naked, so that's reason enough for this reviewer!> During the time that she was making some porno features (The Dinner Party, Strap-On Sally #8 etc.) she made some soft-core films as well, and this is pretty much what she does to this day. Her scene is really the only one worth watching. Fast forward the rest. Tammy plays a hooker who's got some worked lined up in a bathroom with a fat, ugly salesman (Joey Gaynor) dresssed in a plaid, polyester suit. The brunettee Centerfold strips down only a pair of thigh-length pantyhose, as the guy watches sitting with his pants down from the toilet seat. She struts around a bit turning him on as she feels herself out. Eventually, she leans over and kisses him on the cheek before before her head goes out of frame. We can assume she is going down on him for a bit before letting him take her for a ride. Its pretty sexy. I wish we could see more of what happens next. Tammy looks amazingly hot. Her body is just stunning. A perfect 10! To see more of Tammy, check out her lesbian porn flick 'Strap-on Sally #8,' or any of her other hardcore titles. The rest of this is a drag.

Grace Nichols (Megan Hughes) is an up-and-coming investment banker who is in competition with her male counterparts, Charles Walters (Jay Richardson ), Russel Meyers (Tom Jourden), and Derrick Miller (Joseph Maickel), for `that big promotion.' She seems to have the inside lane as the protege of the chairman of the board, Roger Sherman (Don Robb[II]) and friend of his wife Glenda Sherman (Trish Elliot). But her position is severely threatened when her secretary, Angie Li (Candace Kita), hooks her up with her personal trainer and sexual playmate Brian Lerner (Doug Jeffery). Complications arise when Grace in turn sets Brian up with Paula Diamond (Deborah Greene) an agent and promoter for a fitness club franchise who is seeking a poster boy for her product.
Warning to SPOILERPHOBIACS ***spoilers may lurk herein*** Director Kelley Cauthen sets up a nice contrast between the `beer-commercial-type' values of the gym/fitness club scene and focused, data-driven world of an investment banking office where $400K/year executives roam the halls. For instance, the minor role of Michelle (Tamera Sessions) who speaks a total of maybe six words in three short appearances is always seen in sweats, fitting in perfectly at the gym. In a nice, tailored dress, however, she would also look at home in the business world, but of course we never saw her there in this film. As a body builder Brian always appears in `grungeware,' except for the one time that we see him in a suit (no tie, but at least a suit) when he was at a party with Grace but it was her money that paid it. A third example: The snobbish remarks by Grace's colleagues toward Brian painfully revealed that he could not distinguish between the `paintings' of Monet and George Bernard Shaw and, therefore, belonged in some other world. (please email me if you need to have this explained) See, I did it, too!!
I thought that the role of Angie Li (Kita) was miscast--a little to sleazy and emaciated. She also may have tied Ms. Hughes for `the most bare skin shown during heterosexual activity' title. A sweet and playful little sex kitten like Kristen Knittle [(Siren's Kiss (1995), Sinful Intrigue (1995), Dreammaster: The Erotic Invader (2000)] may have been a better fit. BTW, did she retire after the Emmanuelle and Justine films? If so, it's too bad because she is a delight to watch.
Miss Kita's sleazy role here is a major contrast to her real life in which she is a college graduate and a classically trained musician. She seems to be constantly cast as the Asian stereotype.
Tammy Parks played a good hooker, but I couldn't figure out whether her john was the role played by Samuel Combs, Jr. or the `salesman' played by Joey Gaynor.
Trivia: This is the only `R' rated film that Ms. Hughes has ever acted in; IMDb lists no other works of hers after this 1995 movie. If she has retired, I hope she'll make a come-back. I thought she was pretty good in SO.
This was another romance/drama that Cauthen was able to make without excessive violence, adolescent-oriented car chases, or obliteration of human body parts in `living color,' as seems to be the norm for too many films of that decade. Whether Kelley is a `Ms. -' or a `Mr. Cauthen,' (I can't seem to find out), my hat's off for a movie for mature audiences where `mature' means what the dictionary says more than what MPAA means by the same word.

Worth watching for Penthouse Pet Tammy Parks

The film is mostly a downer and ultimately a tease for the desperate few who will rent it. The 'highlight' is watching Penthouse knockout Tammy Parks, playing a hooker, take her customer; a rather large, ugly salesman in a polyester suit, to a bathroom stall where she proceeds to strip down to only her thigh-high black stockings and boots and put on a little show for the guy, who's tongue is on the ground by now. After feeling herself out, she leans in and kisses him on the cheek as the scene ends. The last shot is her head dropping out of frame as she goes down on him before letting him take her for a ride. I dug up this film, sitting at the bottom of my Skinemax archives. "Smooth Operator" also goes by the name "Forbidden Games 2" and is an "old" movie by modern softcore standards.
Megan Hughes plays Grace Nichols, a businesswoman constantly competing with men to get ahead. Unfortunately, her love life is also suffering. One day, while chomping on a donut, she realizes she's put on a few pounds. She decides to get back in shape, and asks her secretary Angie Li (Candace Kita) if she could recommend a good personal trainer. Angie recommends Brian Lerner (Doug Jeffery), a guy Angie's also been sleeping with for the last few months. Of course, Grace doesn't know that.
Grace meets up with Brian, and it's innocent at first. She tosses on the workout clothes, he comes over to help her out with exercising, and goes home. Simple enough, right? However, this is a softcore flick, so you know the sex is coming. Eventually, Grace asks Brian to accompany her to a formal dinner. Although Grace's colleagues make Brian look like an culture-deficient idiot, all Grace can think about is how good he'd be in the sack. Sure enough, that night, after the party, they have sex. Eventually, Brian goes back and forth between Angie and Grace, with neither of them knowing they're sleeping with the same guy.
Long story short, Grace and Brian break up down the road, and Angie gets mad at Grace for banging her boyfriend. Of course, all that gets patched over by the end.
There were only a handful of sex scenes, and they were okay, I suppose. Nothing out of the ordinary, but not terrible. Overall, this wasn't a spectacular film, but it had some good points. I wouldn't consider it tapeworthy, though.
Women: B (Megan Hughes was nice, and Candace Kita was kinda cute too. There wasn't much else in terms of women in this flick, so I can't grade this TOO high.)
Sex: C (Very average sex scenes of acceptable duration, but most of them were not very "hot". Megan has one nice scene which blends into a scene featuring Candace on top of Doug Jeffery. That's about it.)
Story: C- (To tell you the truth, the story wasn't all that interesting. It was kinda "there", just so there could be some sort of plot. Besides, I've seen this general storyline played out much better in other films.)
Overall: C- (Below average softcore flick that had some nice parts, especially that one sex scene, but not enough to overcome the bad storyline.)
