Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • When Aladdin arrives at the lair of the 40 Thieves, the thieves contemplate killing Aladdin but instead decided to subject him to "the Challenge," where he must fight one of the thieves to the death and then take his place. Aladdin and Sa'Luk (the film's antagonist) engage in a very intense and violent duel in which Sa'Luk slashes Aladdin's arm with his clawed knuckleduster (this is not shown directly but it is implied) before throwing him off a cliff into the sea. However, Aladdin manages to slow the fall with his dagger and lands on a narrow ledge. Sa'Luk follows Aladdin down the cliff and onto the ledge and they continue their duel. Aladdin manages to push Sa'Luk off the ledge and into the water, presumably to his death. Later, it is revealed that Sa'Luk survived the fall, and he takes his anger out on a shark, stabbing it to death with his claw.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Part of the plot involves Aladdin helping his father Cassim search for the Hand of Midas, which can turn anything it touches into gold. At the end of the film they manage to find the Hand, but Sa'Luk then appears and demands that they give him the hand or he will kill Aladdin. Cassim throws the Hand to Sa'Luk, who catches it by the golden hand part (as opposed to the wooden handle), and Aladdin and Cassim watch as Sa'Luk is transformed into a gold statue, killing him in the process. This scene might be upsetting for very young children.
