Quite presentable tripe
opusv57 July 2006
It's been a few years since I saw this on television (it was called "Alice on Stage" in English), but I remember it as being an enjoyably dreadful film about a young woman,Alice, the product of a one-night stand with a producer, and her efforts to become a dancer of sorts. A French chanteuse-actress named Ophelia Winter has a supporting but important role in the film and, as I remember, Alice does confront her father near the end. One of the film's motifs is a song called "Bouge" (move), that motivates young people to dance. I found this film a pleasant surprise, because though I was aware that French cinema embraced several genres, I did not know it could come up with an actual "trash masterpiece" on the same level as "Showgirls" and "The Other Side of Midnight."
