This is just great!!! It's so typical Gary Larson, the drawings and the humor. Add some animation, and Puff - you've got you're self some quality cartoon out of the ordinary! Much better than Disney junk (lately) or the stuff on Cartoon-Network (bad)! Hard to say what I like the most about these to wonderful cartoon-treasures, but perhaps the one where Death goes on vacation or when the deer with the red tie around his head gives a new meaning to the Deer Hunter. Gary Larson's Tales from the Far Side come in two parts (they come from your TV or in the mail) and they serve quality humor. You will laugh. You will smile. It's highly recommendable..

Fantastic animation

These cartoons are for the person who is tired of the same things and wants a surreal look at the world. Animated in the widely known style of Gary Larson, this series will not disappoint a real Far Side fan. Filled of the great satire of these classic comic drawings, anyone who misses these series should watch it, as it carries the typical humor known to the lover of these comics throughout the series. Deeply involving a diverse outlook of life. The only downside I can see is a consistent similarity, but for someone who truly likes the series it shouldn't be a problem. Nostalgic, lovely and very original. For the lover of the macabre with a lighthearted twist.

Warning: Spoilers
Three years after the original Tales from the Far Side, Gary Larson added another chapter to the legend. These two films are still pretty much the only movie projects he has worked on so far. The highlight of this short-film is definitely the animation. It's very comic-like (of course) and it reminded me a bit of Brösel's Werner films, which I like a lot. Here we get a whole bunch of very short unrelated films pressed into 45 minutes. Unfortunately, as much as I liked the animation, I wasn't too fond of the overall product.
Story-wise, in most cases, we see the consequences that arise from humans running into some kind of conflict with animals or occasionally even extraterrestrials, which usually doesn't end well. Some of the snippets weren't particularly funny, some only at the punchline towards the end, like the woman dancing with her husband and there was hardly any laugh-out-loud moment. I recommend you to watch the original movie first and,if you like it, give this one a go.
