Oswald invites Mr. & Mrs. Duck -- of the Long Island Ducks -- to dinner, and bring the kids. It's a move for Walter Lantz and his staff to do some brand extension, get some new cartoon stars in his stable, just as Donald Duck -- whom Mr. Duck resembles vocally -- was supporting Mickey Mouse, but would soon feature in his own cartoon series. As he hwould increasingly become in the last few years of his cartoon stardom, Oswald is a starring character, but the fun is carried by his comic sidekicks, with him present to offer his name as an assurance of quality.
