The movie is interesting, because it shows the upper classes in a way diametrically opposite to that of Claude Chabrol. It could be the follow-up to the mediocre "leçon particulière" ,for it's more of the same ; Renaud Verlay is no longer a student ,he's grown up to be a doctor -maybe too young to be credible- ;and once again Bernard Le Coq -whose career is still buoying today ;see "les vieux fourneaux" - with his horrible glasses, serves as a foil to him.

It depicts a highly bourgeois milieu ,where these clean cut rich kids go private Catholic schools , have a daddy who welcomes them in a luxury holiday house in Morocco ,complete with swimming pool ,tennis court and stables ; and a ship which belongs to the elder's godfather. You see the picture?

With its sea ,sex and sun background , the movie has the substance of a Harlequin romance ; Francis Lai 's syrupy music and Severine's bland vocals accentuate the mawkishness of this two-bit soap opera ;the wealthy daddy's final patronizing moralizing speech takes the biscuit :after divorcing his wife , seized by the middle-age lust , he's got a lot a nerve to lecture his offspring!

The only "modern" character is the one played by Janet Agren , a very attractive free girl ,with a firm independence of men , but,so as not to scandalize the French audience ,she's American!
