In That Place Where Polar Bears And Penguins Frolic
boblipton5 January 2022
Yes, I know, Polar bears live in the arctic, while penguins -- with the exception of the extinct variety of auk whence the name comes -- all live south of the Equator. That means the only place where there are penguins and polar bears is the zoo. Hardy har har.

Anyway, in the far north -- barring reality -- a penguin and polar bear are frolicking, then steal fish from an Eskimo boy, as they were called in those dead, dim days of 1946, and then it turns into a three-way battle. A lot of the Columbia shorts in this period involve three-way battle, like the Flippy series, in which the cat kept chasing Flippy, who was a bird, and the bulldog kept chasing the cat, who wasn't a bird. This was in contrast to other cartoon studios, where it was one-for-one, with Elmer chasing Bugs, Tom chasing Jerry, Katnip chasing Hoiman, I mean Herman.

Anyway, this is a decent enough cartoon, but everyone in it is too cute for my taste. Except the shark.
