Got to pluck up courage to tell her in Pluck-the-Hen!
dbdumonteil17 May 2016
Plot:Plume-La-Poule (= Pluck -the -hen)is a small village where time stood still;it is some kind of Shangri-la ,where you can find a well ,not a wishing well ,but a place you must not lie for the naked truth came out of its water ,in Henri The Fourth's times. A chatelaine hires, like every summer, some students who harvest ;one of them falls in love with the lady's daughter ,but the boy's daddy is not prepared to accept it,because he is engaged to another girl, with a 2 million Francs dowry at that!Light- hearted gallantries ,amorous quarrels follow.

With this movie, Walter Kapps was not plucked out from obscurity;it's really a hopeless effort ,and you have to pluck up courage to write something nice about it.Sign of the time, a man is amazed because a woman (women did not vote in France before 1946,and this movie was made in 1947)is the mayor of the village.Finer feelings abound and even the not-very-handsome failed law student ,who serves as a foil to the handsome romantic male lead, plucks up the courage to tell the chatelaine he yearns for her.

Welcome to Plume-La-Poule!
