Warning: Spoilers
I have never commented a Jean Pierre Mocky film yet. This one is a perfect example of this very weird and offbeat screenwriter-actor-director style. Even a blind man could recognize a Mocky's picture only listening to it: scenery, situations, dialogues, characters, actors' performances, everything in it is Mocky at 100%. Mix-up of comic sequences, tragic ones, delirious scenes and above all, a solid critic of the whole politic system. Between idealism and anarchy, this forever rebel of the french movie industry, who finances himself his movies and often doesn't pay his actors, gives once more in this film his matchless touch. A former revolutionary back from Indonesia seeks revenge after the death of one of his friends; he has to fight against sort of neo facists groups with the help of some young idealist folks.

And there is no happy end here, as it was in some of his most known movies, such as L'ALBATROS, UN LINCEUL N'A PAS DE POCHE and some others.

Only for Mocky lovers. For those who have not heard about him, they may try. Who knows?...

Third in a trilogy

Jean Pierre Mocky wrote and directed movies with details, situations and characters never seen before (even this title using a slang word). From his dark trilogy, my favorite remains Solo, a desperate run of two brothers during revolutianary times in the end of the 60's, complete drama with no comic scenes (and a superb title by Moustaki). "Le Piège à cons" is the last from that trilogy, with a story close to Solo, with again old and young anarchists but also fascists and weird policemen. And a lot of funny characters appearing briefly, breaking the dramatic scenes and giving the movie an anarchic style that will become more and more Mocky's style.
