Vicente Duarte is, by all appearances, a normal individual. He is married, although it does not appear it is a happy union, to Raquel, an attractive woman. Secretly, Vicente has another life: he is a sexual predator and assassin. He loves to kill women at random to satisfy his desires. He goes after ladies who show a bit of flesh, or dress in provocative ways. Vicente has a predilection for roaming the streets in search of a prey, transforming himself from an ordinary citizen into a ruthless murderer of women.

One day, while having lunch he meets a man, Enrique Capoblanco, a professional clown. The two men click right away. Vicente is not shy in sharing his inner most secrets with Enrique, who seems to love listening to his new friend talk about his sexual exploits. Vicente, in fact, leaves a minor detail from Enrique, he hides the real motif for going after so many women. Vicente is fond of doing his killings on Wednesdays.

The situation at home with Raquel begins to deteriorate as Vicente gets more and more involved in his crime spree. Parallel to his murder activities, the police discover another serial killer is slaying men all over the city, creating panic among the public. There are no clues as to who is doing the dirty deeds until fate brings Vicente to his rival in an unexpected set of circumstances.

Alberto Lecchi, the genius behind two of the best crime series in recent memory in Argentina, "Epitafios I, and II", is the director of this psychological study of a deranged individual who has been disposing of innocent women to satisfy his own lust for sex and blood. The film is based on a novel by Leandro Siciliano, who also contributed to the screenplay with Mr. Lecchi and Daniel Romanach.

In Victor Laplace, the director found a terrific actor who makes justice to Vicente. The actor who is at home working on movies, television as well as in the Buenos Aires stage, makes an impression with the assassin from hell. He is equally matched by Gabriel Goity, seen as Enrique. Leonor Benedetto is a welcome addition to any film, as she is in this one, playing Raquel, the long suffering wife of Vicente.

Great Psychological Thriller!
recontramil15 October 2002
This movie was great!! So much to discuss afterwards, and it's a real thinker/puzzler. If you love murder mysteries and enjoy psychological thrillers, you have to love this movie. I give it a 10/10, despite any flaws it may have. This movie was excellent, it was great, I loved it. It has an authentic feel to it and I just love the whole storyline. I consider this a masterpiece. A few sex scenes here and there, maybe some filthy language, nothing that should really stop you from seeing it :P. I loved this movie, I really did. It has a nice twist and flows very smoothly.

Wednesday is the most dangerous day of the week.

Secretos Compartidos (Shared Secrets) is full of suspense, intrigue, and many hidden secrets to spice up the screen. Brian de Palma's movie "Blow out" meets "Jack The Ripper". The movie is based on the book called " The fisher and the Clown" by Leandro Siciliano, one of the screenwriters. The movie starts right away with the first killing of a woman been followed from the supermarket to her house. The serial killer Vicente Duarte (Victor Laplace- Best actor at the Havana Film Festival)is obsessed with women behavior and he is disturbed by how they dress on a daily basis and show some of their body parts in public. The characters are real, in a real city (Buenos Aires), with real feelings, surrounded by real situations. In Argentina is very normal to show some skin and dress very aggressive. It's part of their life. the killer(the fisher) decides to go hunting for girls on every Wednesday and one day meets another men (the clown)who shares the experiences of how to pick up girls. Obviously, the killer tells his killing stories as if going out on a real date. The pace of the film is good, the special effects are nicely done and the music for the film is excellent. A must see film if you like movies from Argentina and Latin American movies in general. Just don't watch it on a Wednesday, OK.

A serial killer film worth fishing for
handbledzoin13 October 2010
Movies like this are one reason I like to take a chance on foreign films I've never heard of-- this Argentinian serial killer film ranks right up there with the best of them. Victor is a respectable married man who, every Wednesday, brutally assaults and kills a woman for dressing too provocatively. His "calling card", though not graphically shown, is not for the squeamish viewer. After one such killing, he meets a second man in a coffee shop, and they begin to trade stories of sexual conquests. This second man, who earns his living as a clown entertaining children, soon invites him to his house for sex with a female friend. Meanwhile, Victor's wife and secretary discover what they think is evidence of his infidelities. A sub-plot involving a newspaper reporter comes to a horrifying end. And this is about all I can say without spoiling some of the several surprises at the end of the film, though I will say the final line is satisfyingly chilling. All in all, an intricately-plotted film with well-drawn characters, whose grainy look only adds to the realism of its horrific details.
