Local cartoon show hosted by Cowboy Bob on Indiana's independent station.
jguy-49 January 2005
Chuckwagon Theater was on Channel 4 (WTTV) which was one of four channels (on VHF) in central Indiana. Channel 4 was an independent station, with the other three being network affiliates. The program was hosted by Cowboy Bob who would show cartoon such as Bugs Bunny and other Warner Brothers cartoons. Cowboy Bob would sometimes speak to Cookie, the cook for the chuckwagon. Cookie was always off screen and was only heard, when Cookie would try to come on screen there would be some technical difficulty with the picture. Sourdough the Singing Biscuit, originally an actual biscuit as a baby, but who grew up into a large biscuit puppet was another character on the show. Frequently there would be guests on the show, often times referred to as Wrangler John or Wrangler Jim, etc. depending on the persons name.

I have nothing but fond memories of Cowboy Bob and Chuckwagon Theater. I lived a block from my elementary school and walked home for lunch. While I was home I would watch the show. I believe it changed names to Cowboy Bob's Corral when it changed air time to later in the day.

Chuckwagon Theater Opening Song Lyrics
Scissorhands821 April 2008
Cowboy Bob and his cast of characters became a part of me as a kid. With his horse, Windjammer, and his dog, Tumbleweed, I remember that opening song each day at noon.

Headin' for the chuck wagon, It's just around the bend, Pretty soon my mornin' ride will, Come to an end.

Ridin' hard and ridin' hungry, Glad that I can finally be, Where that home away from home home-cookin's, Waiting' for me.

There was also Sour Dough the singing biscuit and Cookie, the cook (who you never saw). I think Bob Glaze was the voice of both. And of course there was Moo-nerva, the Choc-ola Cow.

Cowboy Bob

Cowboy Bob was the greatest when I was young. He was the show that everybody in Indianapolis, and surrounding cities watched when we came home from school. When I was in grade school in the 1980's, I would come home and either watch the average Ducktales stuff, or Cowboy Bob. He used to play guitar, and tell stories about the farm, and had a whole slew of friends that would come and visit. Cowboy Bob also did some behind the camera work on other local shows in Indy such as "Sammy Terry". This was a late night God in Indiana, that showed schlock horror movies. These local shows don't seem to exist anymore, and that sucks, but times have changed. It was a nice personal touch on the time period.

Hello, Singing Biscuit!
clhamby15 March 2006
Thanks, jguy-4, for confirming the existence of the Singing Biscuit! I have worked under that moniker for over 5 years - it has been my band name as well as a great pseudonym for whenever I play or sing. I lost count of how many people asked me where the name came from, and all this time I've only met one other person (other than immediate family members) who remembers the Cowboy Bob show. As I recall, Cookie was also a very clumsy and/or violent person in the kitchen and there was always at least one pots-and-pans crashing sound effect (and maybe even some stuff thrown into Cowboy Bob's stage area? or did I just dream that?) during the show. Anyway, thanks for letting me know somebody out there remembers the Singing Biscuit. I sure wish I had a picture! Carrie Hamby Singingbiscuit.com
