Although it's not based on a play , "Amédée" looks like theâtre de boulevard ; the kind of stuff which would be better performed on stage : the overabundance of voice over gets on one's nerves in the long run.

Amédée is unfairly arrested (he was helping gangsters to push their car ,his intentions were good)and he undergoes an injection of truth drug -not a common practice in the French police ,not at all!- ;after his innocence is proved, he's released but the effects of the drug linger on a few days .

So Amédée tells the truth to evryone: he confesses to his wife that he's got a lover,to a customer that what he sells to him is rubbish , to a taxman that his boss swindles the IR(S)......The latter thinks he's going nuts and he tries to get rid of him ;his private shrink will take good care of him.

Apart from the principal ,the stand out is Annette Poivre ,as the "sincere " man's wife ;always overtaken by events, she deperately tries to understand the psychiatrist' s jargon, dealing with split personality and electro shocks .
