I saw this film on our local PBS affiliate in Dallas about 8 years ago and it gave me a very unique, personal perspective on a town that I only knew as the halfway mark between Dallas and Austin. Don Howard, the director and narrator, highlights several Waco citizens, past and present, and shows how their lives are interwoven into the rich fabric that makes up Waco.It gave me a new perspective on Waco, even prompting a trip there for me, where I visited Oakwood Cemetery and saw the infamous gravestone of iconoclast William Cowper Brann. Although this film may not prompt a cross-country road trip for most viewers,(I was lucky to live only a few hours away), I highly recommend the film, even if you are not a Texan. You only have to have an appreciation for Americana and history, as well as for independent documentaries. Bravo, Mr. Howard...you did great!
