Do not let the cast and credits fall you : Claudia Cardinale's and Ingrid Bergman's cameos are tiny (watch out if you do not want to miss them) and are present because they came to the Festival De Cannes !

This effort belongs to the series of films Pierre Chevalier made with stand up comic Fernand Raynaud ; his talent and Jean Poiret's make this variation on Frank Capra's highly superior " meet John Doe" (1941) pleasant to watch , for the stupefied look of Raynaud and Poiret's extraordinary gift of the gab make up for the director's unimaginative directing .It's a spoof on the gossips of the showbiz, the fake suicides (French actress Martine Carol did that to attract the journalists'attention), the starlet who wants to be known before even playing (because "if they do not know me, I won't get any part!") .She's played by Valérie Lagrange , later a rock singer.
