The oldest and perhaps first doc on Akhenaten. A difficult line of study because Amarna was lost, forgotten and destroyed. Dr. Redford and his crew uncover the city and have laid the foundation for centuries of investigation and discovery. At 89 in 2023 the doctor may no be going back to Egypt but his work is his witness! This video that sketches his decades of work is online via the University of Toronto. I hope to obtains some of his books and visit Egypt. He and his wife's work are inspiring generations of followers of Akhenaten! I will post a link once I find it again, it's been a decade since I've watched it!

Amazing Documentary!

Donald Redford is perhaps the greatest Egyptologist of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. His acumen and rigor are unparalleled. The findings and publications of the ATP are, frankly, wonderful.
From the very early use of 'artificial intelligence' by utilizing 1960's mainframe computers and the resulting restoration of many recovered talatat scenes we share in the excitement of the discoveries as they unfold.
The inclusion of 'Om Seti' is a bit distracting, although interesting should one wish to hold a seance, or if one is predisposed generally toward the supernatural.
'The Lost Pharaoh' might benefit from updating for video quality by means of modern technology and / or AI; it still rings true as fascinating subject matter today (2023).
