We are hardly made to believe that this story happened in just this way, but it is a pretty story and it has some characters that a human being can sympathize with and so, as an offering to the average audience, is distinctly ahead of pictures with unpleasant stories even though they more vividly convince. The actors are not chosen well for their particular parts; to the emotional player has fallen the role of detective and he is about the poorest sleuth we remember. The people liked it, but will not remember it long. - The Moving Picture World, January 31, 1914
