Shy woman, who lives with her domestic parents, meets charlatan and falls in love..
andre-brouwers4 January 2004
It started out interesting. Shy woman meets strange guy on a train. He reads her thoughts like from a novel she read and still is reading. She falls in love, her parents adore him and take him in as their long last son-in-law. He treats her badly, wraps her parents around his finger and freeloads all day. It finally got to a point where I started to hate this guy and wanted to smack him in the face, you say good, the director found a convincing actor, to me, I got annoyed with him too much, it was dragging too long, I switched it off. I caught the end, it wasn't hopeful.

Lonely girl meets con man
eekmonique28 August 2004
A plain, shy, thirty-ish woman still lives with her parents in their cramped house in a depressing suburb. Her life is completely uneventful and she works at a boring job in a bank. One day she meets a young man on the train, he is fairly handsome and wears a nice suit. He manages to charm her, she brings him home and he ingratiates himself with her parents (who are also lonely and all too ready to believe that their daughter has finally found a nice man). Somehow he ends up living in their house, freeloading off them every day and contributing nothing. Things just get worse and worse from there. I can't say much more than this without giving away the plot. The four main characters are all incredibly well written and acted. The boyfriend is just an awful person, selfish, lazy, cruel, dishonest and exploitative. I don't know if the director was deliberately trying to portray a sociopath on screen; but that's how this character comes across. I found this movie fascinating. Sometimes I could hardly bear to watch as this family allowed this person to disrupt their lives. This is a unique film.
