Self-consciously 'Indie'
emdoub14 August 2005
The music, while not my cup of tea, was pretty good, and well-selected to match the scenes - which may explain why the music credits ran first in the final credits. They seemed to overlook the "this actor played this character" part of the final credits - perhaps at the insistence of the actors themselves.

The film editor knows lots of nifty tricks - multiple exposure, pixillation, fade from color to b&w and back, gritty grainy, mirror image - all fairly well done, if horribly overdone.

The acting was fair - especially after you realize that the script called for characters who all suffer from extreme, unpredictable mood swings.

The storyline wasn't bad, at least for the parts I could follow - the film editor was pretty tricky. The end was, well, incomprehensible - you can see what happens (as well as you can follow any of the parts of this vid), but just how it happened remains a mystery after repeated efforts to figure out what the action was.

I still don't understand the reason for the side-plot of the romance between the diner waitress and the cop - it looks like they intended to tie it in at the end, but forgot to film that part.

If you're in the mood for an indie vid that tries really really hard to be an arty mood piece, you could do worse. If you're looking for a decent vampire flick - keep looking.
