The Mosquito Love Story

Warning: Spoilers
Mozzie is the Australian slang for Mosquito. I saw this extremely short movie at the Pune International Film Festival in Jan'06. Eight long years after it was made.

This movie starts with two mosquitoes eying a man going to bed. One is a master blood sucker and the other is a beginner. They attack the man for food, but things go wrong and he hurls at them with a repellent. On watching the beginner lay helpless before the giant man in pajamas, the master mosquito decides to save him.

With his exemplary courage, and thoughtfulness, the hero braves dangerous tunnels and electric discharges to stop the giant and save his love.

The animation wasn't as good as say the Toy Story, but was good enough to make it amazing to watch. There was no shortage of good ideas. I think that the best scene was the one when the master mosquito comes back after killing the giant, there is light shining behind him, and he flexes his wings to acknowledge his bravery, while the other mozzie looks at him with starry eyes.

The sound effects were terrific. The mosquitoes just make the buzzing sound during the movie, but still manage to convey each tiny emotion that they possibly felt.

It was a very short movie, but it received the biggest applause that day. Great work. I would like to suggest you to watch this one whenever you get a chance.
