The first half of Joe D'Amato's version of Kurosawa and later Sturges' "Magnificent Seven" is a lazy stab at a Western, quickly devolving into raw and routine sex. Collaboration with his best actor Rocco Siffredi is a flat tire this time out.
Split into halves as was the craze in the free-spending Porno '90s, this feature is all build-up and no delivery. Townsfolk recruit Rocco, as Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen had died more than a decade before, to stave off the inevitable terrorizing that bandido Roberto Malone (looking quite silly in bandana and floppy hat) will perform. Siffredi recruits his band of miscreants, totaling 7 including himself, and they hump a bunch of women. That's it, because the showdown is saved for the equally crummy Part 2: "The Final Assault", one of the last films released before Big Joe shuffled off this mortal coil.
Lost in the shuffle is a terrific Spanish actress Maria de Sanchez, who starred in two excellent D'Amato dramas "Flamenco Ecstasy" and the title role of his take on the classic "Carmen". Mainly Euro cast also includes Chatsworth superstar Missy in one of her least interesting assignments.
