I saw this Russian documentary in 2001 at the Margaret Mead Film Festival in New York. It's divided into three segments, each showing love between two people. The first part, in black-and-white, shows an elderly couple living in Jerusalem, focusing on the wife trying to come to terms with the husband's illness. The second part (in color) shows the marriage of a young couple in a working class town. The third part shows a class for young children where a little boy and girl decide that they've "fallen in love" with each other. This movie is nothing particularly special, but it is an interesting look at everyday life in other countries. On the negative side, they did include a lot of material that seemed kind of extraneous. After the screening, the director gave a brief Q&A session. Though his accent sometimes made it difficult to understand what he was saying,he did have some interesting comments on the film, including that he didn't much like the second part (I wasn't really sure why, as it seemed okay to me).

I also watched this movie at the Margaret Mead Film Festival In NY. Of the three parts, the last segment with the children was the most striking. He was able to capture the little ones experiencing love and heartache for the first time in the their lives, and it was incredible. My wife and I have talked about that part of the movie ever since we saw it in 2001. I Loved You is truly one of the best documentaries out there.
