A very early and quirky comedy.
ktshows1 May 2002
Shot on location in Philadelphia, this short comedy concerns a young lass who, after purchasing a detective novel at Leary's Book Store, becomes so engrossed in reading that she becomes totally oblivious to numerous surrounding dangers. She (though we suspect that she is actually a he) takes a great number of pratfalls (including be "run over" by a steam-roller) all of which make for a wonderfully silly, sight-gag filled short. Many scenes are shot against the background of the Fairmount Water Works and other historic Philadelphia locations. Most of Lubin's films were destroyed in a blast in his film vaults , a select few are held by the Montgomery County Community College Library in Blue Bell PA as part of the Betzwood Film Archive Collection
