This juvenile film is indeed valuable for its portrayal of juvenile intellect, concern, responsibility and in their own special but indeed very intelligent manner, these youngsters have very cleverly fought against the crime of pollution, in this case of the waters. Now mind you, it's indeed the actual course of action of these youngsters, namely how intelligently, practically as adults have handled this pollution matter and ultimately how the perpetrators have been apprehended by the police. This is a relatively short film of approximately 1 hour duration, and it's indeed worth seeing, thus indeed the intelligent work of these youngsters. Hopefully this film will be again reproduced so that the old copy could be replaced.

This an evo thriller from the seventies with familiar actors in supporting roles. Also there is featured a very early version of a video camera and recorder. This was made to show at children's matinees on Saturday mornings. They made some very good films as this shows.

Warning: Spoilers
Once again Children's Film Foundation show themselves to be ahead of the game with THE BATTLE OF BILLY'S POND, a fascinating slice of ecological adventure from the mid 1970s. The story is about two kids playing at a local pond and beauty spot who become aware that something or someone is polluting the water and killing the fish. Doing some homespun detective work they track the culprits and a battle takes place. This has endearing kids, a strong political message (similar actually to big Hollywood hits like DARK WATERS but made on about a hundredth of the budget) and the usual funny supporting roles from the adult performers. Nothing to dislike here.

A pair of high tech eco warriors.

This is probably one of Greta's (you know which one) favourite films as it is an early example of children engaged in a battle to thwart polluters. The gadgets, including a lightweight fake looking video camera, were an interesting addition and it runs along very well. 44 years later and pollution is a bigger problem than it's ever been.
