Life In A Studio

Here's an entry in another of the series that purported to show folks in the film capital doing stuff when they weren't pretending to be someone else on the screen. The best known of these was Columbia's SCREEN SNAPSHOTS. In one form or another, that lasted over thirty years.

This one is not so long lived, but it has its moments. Lloyd Hamilton goofs around in black face, Colleen Moore serves tea to Maurice Tournier, and George Siegman cheats at chess. These names and faces may be forgotten to the general public, but they are remembered fondly by fans of old movies, and were a source of fascination to the contemporary movie-going public,

Life in Hollywood, No. 2 (1927)

*** (out of 4)

This second entry in the series isn't nearly as entertaining as the first but it's certainly worth watching to film buffs who enjoy the stars that are on display here. The stars include Colleen Moore, Al St. John, Maurice Tourneur, Ben Lyon, Carmelita Geraghty, Lloyd Hamilton, Ruth Hyatt, George Siegmann, Gaston Glass and many others.

Obviously, time has forgotten most of these names but films buffs will remember several of them and that makes this short rather interesting and entertaining. While there's certainly nothing ground-breaking here, at least we get to see several of the actors interacting with one another and that's enough entertainment to make this worth watching. Moore obviously gets the most screen time out of anyone and can you blame them?
